Removing the upper half of the sclera (the outer shell) exposes the choroid with its venous plexus, and removing the choroid in turn reveals the details of the macula. The model also shows all important anatomical features such as muscle insertions, the optic nerve, blood vessels, ciliary body, cornea, crystalline lens and iris. It is mounted on a base and numbered with an English key card.
