The Seismograph Model (SKU JL-LEP-10307) shows how a seismograph records earthquakes and their comparative strengths. A recording pen is attached to a weight suspended from a support on a metal base stand. When the table the model is clamped to is shaken to simulate an earthquake, the support moves while the weight tends to stay still, and the pen traces the vibration on 65 mm recording paper pulled by hand through the frame.
